TANAKA NON PROFIT SUSTAINABILITY

This is where we were inspired and started our sustainable project Amami Muddye with Yukihito Kanai dyeing artist/craftsman from Kanai Kogei.
Amami Muddye is originally a traditional dyeing craft rooted only in Amami islands, southern islands where located in south Japan in between Okinawa & Kagoshima(Kyushu big island)

Amami Muddye is a dyeing craft to dye “Oshima Tsumugi” traditional black kimono hand made by silk.Dye in chemical stuff is way easer, faster and cheaper than dye by hand with this process, however we thought to keep this beautiful traditional and pass the baton to next generation is super important. Also the fabric dyed with 100% natural is safe to body.

To us, using recycle materials or bio based material is not only way of sustainability. We think keep beautiful traditions and nature with thank & cutting-edge design in TANAKA manner is way more important.
